College vs. High School

In my compare contrast essay this week I wrote about the few similarities and many differences between high school and college. We've all made the transition; we all know what its like. In my paper I wrote about the similarities first, like how there is still a teacher who lectures in front of the class, and you take notes and have to raise your hand to answer questions, but then I got into all of the differences. College is way different than high school in many ways. For example, the campus is bigger, the classes are longer, but you don't have them everyday, the professors, your attendance and homework, tests, and the way teachers grade. You've all experienced it by now; you know how it goes. Its a big change and you need to be prepared and responsible enough to get through it.

  1. Great topic choice! I am interested to know what the claim of your paper is.

  2. You have a well thought out summary. I too wrote about high school and college in my essay and it sounds like we cover many of the same points, but the way your summary was written, I would rather read your final essay than mine.

  3. You could also write about how in college professors often give you assignments at the beginning of the semester that are not due until the end, and you have to take the initiative to start it early and make it really good by the due date, instead of doing nothing the whole semester and cramming it all in the end.

  4. Sounds like an interesting topic. You could talk about how they give you more responsibility in college and its less like you're a kid being baby sat.
